Description:

Cascade is a flexible process control and automation communication
service which provides a distributed real-time database, asynchrnonous
data transfer, task start and stop notification, and network fault
tolerance.  Cascade can deliver real-time data to MS-Windows and
Windows 95 applications, including Wonderware's Intouch man-machine
interface.  An easy-to-use programming API gives developers the
ability to use Cascade's features with custom services.  Cogent
provides Cascade support for Neural Networks, Expert Systems,
SCADALisp, direct digital control, and a variety of PLC and DCS
systems.  Cascade supports any number of data sources and data clients
to allow any combination of control programs, user interfaces and
field devices to be used in a single application.  Existing Intouch
and QNX control systems can be expanded using Cascade without
sacrificing current investments in software and equipment.

Description:

SCADALisp is a dialect of the LISP programming language which has been
optimized for performance and memory usage, and enhanced with many
internal function making it an excellent language for the
implementation of control programs for industrial, commercial and
custom control applications.  SCADALisp supports developer-defined
grammars, allowing it to be embedded as a script language for new or
existing products.  SCADALisp fully supports Cogent's Cascade
real-time database, along with both Photon and QNX Windows, making it
a complete development system for QNX control applications.  SCADALisp
includes support for bumpless on-line code modification, QNX IPC,
timers, object-oriented programming, signal handlers, data
abstraction, fast garbage collection, and much more.  Included with
SCADALisp is SLANG, a C-like language implemented using the SCADALisp
engine to allow C programmers to become immediately productive.  Large
public domain SCADALisp libraries are available to further reduce
programming effort and complexity.
