Yamaha in conjunction with Stanford University, one of the World's foremost education establishments have co developed a system whereby Yamaha's acclaimed XG software synth engine is now combined with the SVA physical modeling technology made famous on our VL range of synths and tone modules. The system is known as SYXG100 or Sondius XG. Running on Pentium II/3 AMD Athlon and higher systems and playing back at full bandwidth 44.1k/16bit, the Sondius XG system utilizes the most current state of the art technology available today. In technical terms (algorithm level) the system is identical to the VL70m in that it has both VL-XG and VOICE mode operations, making it fully programmable using Yamaha's VVE Visual editor for Windows. The system takes the exiting S-YXG50 engine and adds 256 preset VL voices conforming to the VL/XG spec of the VL70m. It also combines the Voice mode programmability and parameters of the VL70m. The current system requires a genuine Intel P2/3 or AMD Athlon/Duron based processor for maximum playback with the S-YXG50 engine in parallel. The SVA engine (The VL part) will only run on Pentium 2/3 or AMD Athlon/Duron processor based machines. It will not run on AMD K6/2 or Cyrix 686 machines. Yamaha recommend an Intel Pentium 2/3 or AMD Athlon/Duron for all use of the S-YXG100 engine as the code is optimised around this chipset. To gain acess to the VL voices Yamaha recommend XGedit (select the SW1000XG option and then select plug ins = PLG100VL). Please note that the extended XG voice set of the SW1000XG (marked in the voice select panel of XGedit) will not be acessable, only the standard XG voice set.
